Job Summary: The Supervisor-Purchasing, supervises employees involved in purchasing and inventory control functions and coordinates the purchasing process, inventory, storage of food, supplies and ingredient room areas. Maintains the master file for food specifications and coordinates the delivery of supplies to ECH, BMC, SH and Medical Center Nutritional Services departments. Meets with food, supply, and equipment vendors as representative of Nutritional Services and LLUMC. Oversees purchasing contracts, Coordinates and works with the Executive Director, vendors, and preventive maintenance contracts to ensure repairs of equipment meet all regulatory and compliance standards after repairs are met; the purchasing of new equipment or leases as well as scheduling the manufacturer to provide initial training safety features and ongoing cleaning; proper use of cleaners and sanitizers along with SDS sheets to train the staff. Coordinates with the Executive Director the need to fix or replace necessary equipment to effectively use department resources. Performs other duties as needed. Education and Experience: Bachelor's Degree required. Two years of purchasing experience required. One year of supervisory experience preferred. Experience may be accepted in lieu of degree. Knowledge and Skills: Able to operate power pallet jack and forklift. Able to keyboard 40 wpm. Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality; use computer, printer, and software programs necessary to the position (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Operate/troubleshoot basic office equipment required for the position. Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others; work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure; collaborate and accept direction. Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone; think critically; manage multiple assignments effectively; organize and prioritize workload; work well under pressure; problem solve; recall information with accuracy; pay close attention to detail; work independently with minimal supervision. Able to distinguish colors as necessary; hear sufficiently for general conversation in person and on the telephone, and identify and distinguish various sounds associated with the workplace; see adequately to read computer screens, and written documents necessary to the position. Licensures and Certifications: ServSafe Certification Required. Valid Driver's License required at time of hire.
