About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Supervisor to support the Magnet Technology group in developing advanced manufacturing technologies for high-performance rare earth permanent magnets. The Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of technicians that will transform raw materials into finished rare earth magnets at a pilot-scale operation. The Supervisor will plan and manage resources across the end-to-end magnet making processes to meet the pilot plant production schedule. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in returning an essential manufacturing capability to the USA.

Requirements

5+ years of operation experience in manufacturing.
Experience managing and training technicians and operators.
Strong attention to detail.
Comfortable with record keeping in both physical and electronic formats.
Strong discipline in following safety practices and standard work instructions.
Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating within cross-functional teams.
Hands-on approach to identifying and solving problems.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

10+ years of experience in the field of metal or ceramic manufacturing, including casting, powder processing, heat treatments, machining and/or surface finishing.
Experience with handling air-sensitive materials.
Experience in scheduling, prioritizing, and delegating tasks to meet project milestones and production deadlines.
Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or other process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

Schedule and manage technician’s work to ensure on-time completion of each step of the operation.
Monitor labor efficiencies and redeploy labor as required to meet the production schedule.
Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure product yields and quality standards are met.
Manage and train employees, including hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
Develop and maintain production procedures and instructions, and ensure they are followed by all employees.
Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment for prototyping magnets with occasional support for production operations.
Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify improvement opportunities, investigate process deviations, and implement robust corrective actions.
Lead efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world-class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
