About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Supervisor to support the Magnet Technology group in developing advanced manufacturing technologies for high-performance rare earth permanent magnets. The Supervisor will be responsible for leading a team of technicians that will transform raw materials into finished rare earth magnets at a pilot-scale operation. The Supervisor will plan and manage resources across the end-to-end magnet making processes to meet the pilot plant production schedule. This is a rare opportunity to play a key role in returning an essential manufacturing capability to the USA.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of operation experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience managing and training technicians and operators.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Comfortable with record keeping in both physical and electronic formats.
  • Strong discipline in following safety practices and standard work instructions.
  • Proven ability to work independently while also collaborating within cross-functional teams.
  • Hands-on approach to identifying and solving problems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • 10+ years of experience in the field of metal or ceramic manufacturing, including casting, powder processing, heat treatments, machining and/or surface finishing.
  • Experience with handling air-sensitive materials.
  • Experience in scheduling, prioritizing, and delegating tasks to meet project milestones and production deadlines.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, 5S, or other process improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and manage technician’s work to ensure on-time completion of each step of the operation.
  • Monitor labor efficiencies and redeploy labor as required to meet the production schedule.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes to ensure product yields and quality standards are met.
  • Manage and train employees, including hiring, scheduling, and performance evaluations.
  • Develop and maintain production procedures and instructions, and ensure they are followed by all employees.
  • Operate and maintain pilot plant equipment for prototyping magnets with occasional support for production operations.
  • Partner with Engineering, Maintenance, and Quality teams to identify improvement opportunities, investigate process deviations, and implement robust corrective actions.
  • Lead efforts to maintain a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Work closely with EHS to ensure that all work is done to ensure world-class health and safety, and full compliance with relevant environmental regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
