About The Position

The Supervisor, Production at Dairy Farmers of America is responsible for providing work direction and supervision to production employees while adhering to standard work rules and employment policies. This role involves monitoring all stages of the production process to ensure accurate processing of products and fulfillment of customer orders through appropriate production scheduling. The supervisor is accountable for promoting safety rules and regulations and ensuring compliance with food safety and quality requirements. The position also includes coaching, mentoring, and providing performance development opportunities to team members.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Undergraduate degree in related curriculum preferred.
  • 2 to 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food and/or beverage manufacturing.
  • 2 to 5 years' in leadership aptitude, team lead experience, or supervisory experience.
  • Certification and/or License may be required during course of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of manufacturing process flow and its importance.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement models.
  • Knowledge of and skill with Microsoft Office Suite and company computer systems.
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of supervision, training, and personnel management.

Responsibilities

  • Schedule, assign work, and provide clear direction to production employees.
  • Monitor operations activities to ensure that plant production and quality standards are met.
  • Monitor the equipment used in production processes to ensure efficient functioning and proper cleaning and sanitization.
  • Promote safe work behaviors and hold self and direct reports accountable for following safety rules and regulations.
  • Conduct accident/injury investigations and report injuries to safety in a timely manner.
  • Understand and fulfill the requirements and regulations for food safety and quality.
  • Supervise production scheduling to ensure appropriate quantities and varieties of product are produced.
  • Proactively look for ways to increase operational efficiency and contain costs.
  • Work effectively with employees to promote positive and productive working relationships.
  • Administer discipline consistently and fairly.
  • Communicate actively with employees through shift meetings and informal methods.
  • Complete supervisory activities such as administering employee promotions and transfers, reviewing timekeeping, and completing performance evaluations.
  • Maintain safe working conditions for employees and compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Follow all good manufacturing practices (GMP) and work in accordance with regulatory, food safety, quality, and sanitation requirements.
