Directly plans and supervises the activities of the hourly Production employees to ensure that railroad freight cars are repaired within the established industry and company standards for productivity and quality. Responsible for the training and safety of subordinates. Responsible for simple disassembly of component parts through complex milling and boring to stringent specifications. This challenge is accentuated by differing arrangements of freight car truck components requiring the use of special gages to determine accuracy of repairs performed. Work is performed on a production line and is measured against specific time and method standards. Incumbent is responsible for scheduling repairs and maintaining equipment in the work area. Responsible for maintaining a neat, clean, clutter free shop. Responsible for keeping all reports, shop write-ups, performance reviews current. Responsible for presenting a professional, business like atmosphere which encourages a low absenteeism, and turnover rate. Responsible for keeping own training current and remaining informed of all AAR, FRA TTX rules and regulations.
