About The Position

Lumicera Health Services is defining the “new norm” in specialty pharmacy to optimize patient well-being through our core principles of transparency and stewardship. Due to growth, we are adding a Prior Authorization Supervisor to our Pharmacy Patient Services department. Under direction from the Assoc. Manager, Specialty Pharmacy Services and pharmacists in the Specialty Pharmacy, the Supervisor, Prior Authorization is primarily responsible for obtaining information and assisting providers and insurance companies in triaging prior authorizations for patients of the specialty pharmacy. The Supervisor, Prior Authorization leads a team of pharmacy technicians involved in specialty pharmacy patient services. The Supervisor, Prior Authorization, is also responsible for answering phone calls, contacting providers, and patients via fax or phone or other communication means. Participate in meetings, work groups and work to increase workflow efficiency relating to prior authorization support. The Supervisor, Prior Authorization, may also be responsible for ensuring that all pertinent patient information is contained within the record. This position will function with and assist any other area in the facility as needed with regard to pharmacy technician type duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Bachelors or Associates Degree preferred
  • CphT preferred
  • Minimum two years pharmacy support experience or healthcare environment experience preferred
  • Ability to work scheduled hours, shifts may vary based on department needs

Responsibilities

  • Assists in workflow balancing and process improvement
  • Responsible for answering the inbound calls from patients, prescribers, and other healthcare professionals
  • Responsible for contacting doctors to obtain necessary information
  • Responsible for managing the assigned workflow queues
  • Responsible for accurate and thorough documentation of patient, prescription, and order information and set up
  • Act in accordance with all applicable federal and state laws and with the highest ethical standards
  • Other duties as assigned
