About The Position

The Supervisor, Platform position is responsible for leading and managing dock employees to ensure efficient and safe operations. This role involves setting performance targets, monitoring employee performance, and providing coaching and development. The supervisor is accountable for dock planning, compliance with company policies, and effective communication with customers. Additionally, the position requires involvement in hiring and termination processes, as well as the administration of the Terminal Business plan.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor's Degree preferred.
• Thorough understanding of the trucking industry and basic paperwork flow preferred.
• Prior management, dispatch, and dock experience required.
• Knowledgeable of the local metropolitan area.
• Strong leadership skills, including hiring, coaching, counseling, training, mentoring, and terminating employees.
• Excellent verbal, written, and listening communication skills.
• Strong planning and organization skills.
• Good computer skills, including AS/400 and MS Office.
• Strong work ethic and good problem-solving skills.
• Willingness to work an average of 50 hours/week, including nights and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Lead, guide, and direct dock employees, setting targets and monitoring performance.
• Provide coaching, counseling, and development to dock employees.
• Manage an efficient, clean, and safe L2L operation, including dock planning and scheduling.
• Enforce compliance with company policies, safety rules, and government regulations.
• Participate in hiring and termination processes, making recommendations as needed.
• Administer assigned portions of the Terminal Business plan as set by the Terminal Manager.
• Utilize company enhancement tools and processes to meet KPIs.
• Review and revise schedules to increase efficiencies and reduce costs.
• Oversee equipment assignment and movement in collaboration with other supervisors/management.
• Ensure timely and correct handling of all paperwork associated with the dock.
