About The Position

The Supervisor of Plant Training Programs at Ball Corporation is responsible for driving operational excellence through the deployment and execution of a standardized technical training program. This role focuses on ensuring quality and consistency in training delivery, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, and monitoring employee proficiency and program effectiveness against key performance indicators (KPIs). The position involves strategic advising to plant leadership on training needs and managing the organization of employee onboarding and operational training.

Requirements

  • Broad training in a related field usually acquired through college level education or work-related experience; adult education, instructional/curriculum design.
  • Minimum of 3 years of job-related experience in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and perform complex tasks under pressure.
  • Demonstrable skill in team building, leading, teaching, coaching, and influencing leaders.
  • Change leadership experience and willingness to challenge the status quo.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office and content development tools.
  • Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) and content management systems.
  • Ability to identify and administer local training grant opportunities.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, with the ability to communicate at all levels of the organization.
  • Excellent customer service skills and self-motivation to work independently.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information confidentially.
  • Expertise in adult learning methods and technical writing.
  • Experience in writing standard operating procedures (SOPs) and work instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Leads and advises plant leadership on the effectiveness of training programs and future training needs.
  • Manages the organization and staffing of employee onboarding and operational training based on production needs.
  • Supervises plant trainers and the training function, utilizing Ball's leadership framework.
  • Supports the deployment and execution of the Learning Management System (LMS) and related administration duties.
  • Champions training-related onboarding activities, promoting company culture and values.
  • Drives an effective training program for consistent, high-quality work across assigned plants.
  • Ensures effective use of training assets, including training rooms and materials.
  • Supports the development of plant training resources in collaboration with the regional technical training department.
  • Administers plant-based training grant opportunities in collaboration with the regional technical training department.
  • Monitors and reports on training completion status against defined targets.
  • Conducts training on general concepts as defined by the standardized training program.
  • Supports critical control processes such as change control and document control.
