Department OverviewThe Employee Relations Team provides expert consultation on people-related matters to a wide range of stakeholders, including employees and managers of company-owned restaurants, former employees, operations staff, franchise owners, and field HR partners. We work collaboratively to deliver HR solutions that support business goals while protecting and enhancing the McDonald’s brand. This role offers a unique opportunity to gain broad exposure to McDonald’s and the Global Business Services (GBS) People team.DutiesAs the Supervisor – Performance Improvement, you will play a key role within the Employee Relations team, leading a centralized performance improvement process that supports People Managers working with employees at the mid-management level and below. Your responsibilities will include: Ensure the availability and accessibility of self-service tools and resources to help People Managers and employees understand and apply performance improvement strategies effectively. Provide expert guidance to People Managers on using standardized tools and processes to enhance performance, foster accountability, and support employee development. Build strong partnerships with People Managers, HR People Partners, and Legal to ensure alignment, consistency, and compliance in performance improvement efforts. This role is ideal for someone passionate about talent development and committed to helping employees succeed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Organizational Psychology, Communications, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of HR generalist experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach managers and employees through challenging conversations and feedback.
  • Highly self-motivated with strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused mindset.
  • Collaborative team player who can also work independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Performance Management: Experience creating, implementing, and monitoring Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs); familiarity with SMART goals, documentation standards, and evaluation cycles.
  • Communication & Conflict Resolution: Skilled in delivering constructive feedback, navigating difficult conversations, and communicating effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Coaching & Mentoring: Ability to guide People Managers with empathy and accountability throughout the performance improvement process.
  • Analytical & Documentation Skills: Ability to identify performance trends, determine root causes, and maintain objective, legally sound documentation.
  • Policy & Compliance Knowledge: Understanding of HR policies, employment law, and organizational procedures; ability to ensure fair and consistent application of performance standards in collaboration with HR and Legal partners.
