The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center (OSUWMC), The James Cancer Hospital, and Solove Research Institute are committed to enhancing patient care quality through teaching, research, and patient care. The James is also committed to providing the community/region with quality services in cancer detection, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation as one of the nation’s ten free-standing “cancer-only” hospitals, one of the largest PPS-exempt hospitals in the USA. The “new” James Cancer Hospital Solove Research Institution, and Critical Care Tower, including an expanded Emergency Department, is a transformational facility that fosters collaboration and integration of research and clinical cancer care. This 21-level hospital will help revolutionize the way cancer prevention and care are provided in this nation, with world-class oncologists and cancer researchers working side-by-side to unlock the mysteries of cancer’s causes and, using those discoveries, move from treating cancer to preventing it from ever occurring. Program activities offered in the new hospital include 276 acute care beds, 72 critical care beds (72 shelled), 152 outpatient exam rooms, 40 infusion stations, 16 clinical trial stations, 12 Apheresis beds, and an expanded Emergency Department by 46 rooms, 16 rooms dedicated to oncology patients. The James encompasses over 12,500 annual hospital admissions, over 380,000 outpatient and clinic patient visits, and over 8,500 surgeries annually. The OSUWMC Emergency Department patient visits are over 68,000 per year. The Environmental Services Director supports The James’ mission and values by coordinating and providing comprehensive environmental services. Responsibilities include actively promoting an Intensive Caring image in support of absolute customer satisfaction teamwork and resolution of conflict. Actively promote an Intensive Caring image to achieve absolute positive customer satisfaction. Promotes teamwork through mutual respect for staff, developing positive interpersonal relationships, and lending assistance as needed. Maintains professional conduct and promotes a positive image to customers. Communicates hospital and department goals and objectives verbally and in written form. Respond to emergency calls at any given time. Serves as a mentor. The Supervisor, Patient Transportation leads and supports a team responsible for the safe, timely, and patient-centered transport of individuals throughout the hospital. This role coordinates day-to-day operations, supervises staff, ensures compliance with safety and service standards, and supports continuous improvement efforts in patient transport services. Works closely with clinical and operational partners to ensure transport supports throughput and overall patient flow.
