UPMC's Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI) is seeking a dedicated Advanced Practice Provider Supervisor to join our Thoracic Surgery team. Position: Supervisor, Physician Assistant or Supervisor, Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (Acute Care) Location: UPMC Shadyside and UPMC Presbyterian Hospital Schedule: 5 8-hour shifts or 4 10-hour shifts. Specifics: Looking for an individual with strong leadership and organizational skills with a passion for patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and APP advocacy. This position requires excellent written and spoken communication, understanding of quality metrics, interpersonal/relational aptitude, and quick-decisive problem-solving. Additionally, this position requires clinical expertise in thoracic surgery including operative, inpatient, and outpatient experience. Department Details: Leadership opportunity on a high volume, high acuity, thoracic surgery team of excellent APPs. Regularly meeting Quality Improvement committee, and culture of active involvement of APPs on QI projects. This position is one of three thoracic supervisor positions within the department who met regularly under the guidance of an APP director, allowing this individual to step into a leadership role being well supported by peers and continuing to report directly to a clinical supervisor. The APP is responsible to set the standards for the level and quality of care. The APP has responsibility, authority, and accountability for the provision of care through supervision by and collaboration with a physician. The APP manages and provides patient care activities for a group of patients and their families through the application of independent judgment, communication, and collaboration with all team members. The role of the APP encompasses the beginnings of leadership, partnership, collaboration, and supervision. The APP establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with physicians, other health care providers, patients, and their families, to achieve desired patient outcomes throughout the continuum of care. The APP begins to demonstrate a commitment to the community and to their healthcare profession. The successful candidate will be placed according to years and months of experience for employment purposes. The posted salary range is for the Senior level which requires three (3) or more years of APP experience.
