Maersk Ground Freight (MGF) offers transportation services like FTL (Full Truckload), LTL (Less Than Truckload), brokerage, cross-border trucking, groupage, and sortation hubs, connecting Maersk or Customer warehouses or depots or cross-dock/consolidation/deconsolidation facilities through a robust network led by best-in-class operations and technology. This integrated network will service multi-channels like B2B, B2C, B2B2C, e-commerce, direct to store, dropship, returns, and more, leveraging asset-based, asset-light, and non-asset models. We are seeking an Operations Supervisor in Grand Rapids, MI! 8:30pm-6am Wednesday - Saturday JOB SUMMARY: The Operations Supervisor monitors all operations including, but not limited to; Process shipments, prepare paperwork, communicate freight status and dispatch drivers for pick up. The supervisor will be the primary interface between Pilot Freight Services, customers, sales, system operations and vendors and provide quality customer service, while meeting company policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Customer service background preferred
  • Ability to read key elements of financial statements in support of functional role responsibilities
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Must have superior organizational and time management skills
  • Must be approachable and motivated
  • Knowledge of systems utilized as it relates to logistics
  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment
  • Detail oriented and analytical

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for ongoing process analysis of operational systems, procedures, and staffing to drive continuous improvement in operating efficiencies.
  • Assist District Manager with general tasks
  • Responsible for ensuring safe operations as well as compliance with all OSHA regulations, all applicable laws, and Pilot’s Corporate Policies
  • Effectively train, supervise, coach and evaluate all direct reports to foster good communications and morale
  • Reviews operational key performance measures monthly as well as benchmarking data to drive any required correctional or improvement strategies
  • Communicating freight status and any problems to customers, vendors and other Pilot stations and personnel
  • Freight handling via forklift
  • Load/Off-load build trucks for optimal routing
  • Other duties as assigned
