Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in nursing.
  • Minimum 2 years nursing experience in operating room.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure and/or Compact State Licensure.
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association.
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory or lead experience.
  • Surgical Scrub knowledge.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of clinical supervisory functions including leading and coordinating the daily operational activities of service line and personnel functions.
  • Initiates, supports, and enforces work efforts that maximize quality, safety, and service in the defined specialty service(s) in collaboration with Surgical Services leadership and physicians.
  • Maintains availability and working status of specialty instruments and equipment.
  • Provides direct patient care in the OR by demonstrating competence in providing age-appropriate care and service to patients.
  • Collaborates with physicians in the defined specialty service(s) to maximize quality, safety, and service.
  • Maintains accurate preference/procedure cards.
  • Orders/assures adequate quantities of 'specialty' supplies are available and does so in a cost-conscious manner.
  • Identifies needs and coordinates activities to resolve issues or improve care of the patients within defined specialty service(s).
  • Functions as a resource to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Supervises Registered Nurses and Surgical Technologists on the defined specialty team(s).
  • Completes performance evaluations (introductory and annual) with those employees on the defined specialty service(s) team.
  • Provides direct patient care in the operating room.
  • Participates in regular, specialty and resource on-call coverage for the Operating Room.
  • Directs the education programs for the Specialty Service(s).
