The position supervises the daily activities of the Transport Scheduling and Planning team, ensuring that loads are scheduled for delivery and assigned to drivers or common carriers in accordance with store inventory levels and sales forecasts. The role involves supervising, hiring, training, evaluating, and motivating the Transport Scheduling and Planning team while directing the daily work of direct reports. The supervisor oversees daily load plans and scheduling to ensure customer service levels are met and strives to achieve the goal of zero outages. Collaboration with internal partners is essential to manage and dispatch inventory supply appropriately, planning deliveries based on store inventory levels and forecasted sales to meet business demands. The supervisor is responsible for identifying root causes in the event of an outage and completing outage protocols, providing timely communication of critical events that need to be addressed by management. Additionally, the role requires maintaining knowledge of federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Regulations (FMCSR) and Department of Transportation (DOT) standards. The supervisor identifies process changes to improve efficiency and customer satisfaction, provides expertise in meetings, develops and presents performance reports, and administers departmental budgets. Training programs for dispatchers on policies and procedures are developed, ensuring proper completion of training requirements. The supervisor ensures staff coverage 24/7, develops subordinates for career progression, conducts performance appraisals, and completes departmental reporting as needed.
