About The Position

The position supervises the daily activities of the Transport Scheduling and Planning team, ensuring that loads are scheduled for delivery and assigned to drivers or common carriers in accordance with store inventory levels and sales forecasts. The role involves overseeing the daily load plans and scheduling to meet customer service levels and striving for zero outages. It requires collaboration with internal partners to manage and dispatch inventory supply appropriately, planning deliveries based on store inventory levels and forecasted sales to meet business demands.

Responsibilities

• Supervises, hires, trains, evaluates and motivates the Transport Scheduling and Planning team; directs the daily work of direct reports.
• Oversees the daily load plans and scheduling to ensure customer service levels are met and strives to meet the goal of zero outages.
• Collaborates with internal partners to ensure that inventory supply is managed and dispatched appropriately.
• Identifies root cause analysis in the event of an outage and completes outage protocol.
• Maintains working knowledge of federal, state, and local rules and regulations, including FMCSR and DOT.
• Identifies process changes to improve efficiency, effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
• Provides expertise at various meetings by attending and presenting data as needed.
• Develops and presents reports regarding performance and financial impact as needed.
• Creates and administers departmental operating expense budgets and sets priorities for spending.
• Develops training programs for dispatchers on department policies and procedures.
• Ensures staff coverage 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
• Develops subordinates and recommends placement in positions suitable for their career progression.
• Conducts performance appraisals and recommends salary consideration for personnel.
• Completes departmental reporting as needed.
• Completes other duties as assigned by Management.
