About The Position

OUC - The Reliable One, an industry leader and the second largest municipal utility in Florida committed to serving the community and the environment, is presently seeking a Supervisor of Sustainability to join the Customer Experience & Sales division. We are looking for a results-driven, collaborative leader with strong data analytics and operational leadership skills to lead a team responsible for delivering high-impact conservation and Demand Side Management (DSM) programs. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Engineering, Environmental Science, Science, or related field of study from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a degree, equivalent combination of education, experience or certifications may be substitutable on a 1:1 basis
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience working in the energy and water industry, to include:
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience working in a combination of any of the following activities:
  • Energy and water utility DSM project support
  • Business and process analysis
  • Renewables and conservation programs
  • Building management and control systems
  • Customer service
  • Utility policy
  • Contract management, and/or
  • Budget and financial analysis
  • Three (3) years of experience working in residential/commercial energy and water auditing with practical knowledge of commercial electric and mechanical systems
  • Minimum of one (1) year of formal supervisory experience. In lieu of formal supervisory experience, experience managing project teams, budgets, coaching and/or mentoring team members, leadership training may be substitutable
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Certifications and/or licenses to be completed upon hire:
  • Certified Water Efficiency Professional (CWEP) and/or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA)
  • Certified Energy Manager (CEM) certification is required within two (2) years of hire
  • Working knowledge of all, but not limited to the following:
  • Conservation programs, rebate programs and related technologies
  • Energy and demand for residential and commercial properties
  • Meter reading and analysis
  • Rooftop solar generation and net metering
  • Residential and commercial water assessments and benchmarking
  • Interpreting KPI and DSM tracking reports
  • Statistical reports
  • Performance appraisals, evaluative measures, and attendance records
  • Software Application (i.e., Energy benchmarking, BEACON, Cognos, Tableau, and modeling software: ES Portfolio Manager)
  • Energy and water auditing equipment
  • Project management methodologies
  • Familiarity with all, but not limited to the following:
  • Data analytics, metrics, and reporting (i.e. Cognos and Power BI)
  • Credentialing and Certification Standards: LEED, EnergyStar, WaterSense, AEE, ASHRAE
  • Software Applications (i.e., CC&B, GIS, MDM)
  • Simple payback period spreadsheet and life cycle
  • Related industry, organizational and departmental policies, practices and procedures; legal guidelines, ordinances and laws
  • Ability to:
  • Manage projects and programs
  • Supervise, lead, coach, mentor, and develop team members
  • Communicate effectively in writing and verbally
  • Understand residential and small commercial building electrical and mechanical systems along with water systems such as but not limited to chilled water, heat pump technologies, VFDs, and irrigation
  • Make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals, and compute rates, ratios, and percentages; calculate simple payback periods
  • Understand and apply governmental accounting practices in maintenance of financial records
  • Use Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.) and standard office equipment (telephone, computer, copier, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily team activities to increase effectiveness, productivity, teamwork, employee development, and customer satisfaction.
  • Manage daily operations and schedules of assigned staff, ensuring compliance, balancing workloads, and reviewing work.
  • Evaluate employee performance; provide coaching, feedback, and developmental support for employees, help in the planning and alignment of strategic goals and objectives.
  • Foster engagement and inclusion by establishing team-building activities, collaborative projects, and initiatives that promote a positive work culture.
  • Oversee energy and/or water audits for commercial and residential customers, including pre-audit research, on-site assessments of building structure and equipment condition, customer education and recommendations for conservation measures which are supported by cost-benefit analysis in audit reports.
  • Promote OUC programs that help customers reduce energy and water consumption and support organizational goals; interact with customers to discuss efficiency opportunities and program requirements.
  • Participate in the development of OUC’s energy and water efficiency program goals.
  • Provide staff oversight and supervise solar interconnection applications and residential SunChoice program
  • Monitor and support the generation of leak reports.
  • Provide technical expertise to Conservation Specialists, Program Support Specialist, and Support Specialists; partner in the selection and implementation of related technologies and contribute to the creation and management of DSM programs.
  • Perform administrative responsibilities, including reviewing reports to ensure program goals are met, collaborating on the review and/or approval of rebates, and supporting related projects.
  • Report monthly statistics, data, and team activities to manager; utilize multiple systems to perform daily work and reporting.
  • Serve as subject matter expert (SME) in bid evaluations for services related to OUC’s conservation programs.
  • Participate in and present at events, seminars, and community meetings to promote OUC’s conservation programs.
  • Maintain external trade ally and stakeholder relationships; participate in departmental and cross-functional meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
