About The Position

The Supervisor of Small Business Credit Analysts at Suncoast Credit Union is responsible for overseeing the Small Business Credit Analyst (SBCA) team, ensuring the timely assignment and completion of Micro and Quick Decision loan requests. This leadership role involves coaching team members, conducting monthly check-ins, and performing annual reviews. The supervisor plays a crucial role in assisting members by reviewing applications for Member Business loan requests under $250,000, analyzing financial information, and communicating with various stakeholders to ensure efficient loan processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance, or related field
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or business lending underwriting traditional credits with a financial institution
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality
  • Excellent organization, prioritization and analytical skills to effectively manage areas of responsibility and attain organizational goals
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills to interact effectively with members, staff, vendors, and government regulators
  • Ability to analyze and resolve complex problems or situations
  • Ability to positively influence others regarding policies, practices, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union products, services, policies, and procedures
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of regulatory compliance
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of credit union computer systems and software applications required to perform job duties

Responsibilities

  • Review and assign Micro and Quick Decision Loan requests to small business credit analysts
  • Complete monthly check-ins ensuring expectations and goals are being met
  • Complete annual reviews for Small Business Credit Analyst Team
  • Interact with SBC and SBCA to resolve questions and concerns associated with Member Business Loan requests
  • Communicate and answer questions from members by phone and e-mail regarding small business loan
  • Review applications for member business loan requests less than $250,000, including commercial real estate, lines of credit, credit cards, letters of credit, and term loans for vehicles and equipment
  • Assess completeness of application and obtain any missing data or documents
  • Analyze credit information to assess member's general credit worthiness
  • Review balance sheets and profit and loss statements
  • Analyze appraisals of real estate offered as collateral
  • Complete an assessment of liquidity, quality of management, market position, and overall business climate to estimate future profitability of business
  • Follow up with processor for underwriting decision and present to Suncoast management for final decisioning
  • Underwrite loans and make recommendations for loan decisions on non-SBA loans
  • Complete loan package presentations for review by management
  • Prepare loan information for SBA Lending and refer to external SBA loan processor
  • Work with document specialist to ensure all applicable loan documents are prepared for closing
  • Work with Business Services Specialist to cultivate member relationships, as well as business deposits
  • Assist member, service center, and back-office staff with questions related to member business loans and deposits
  • Provide phone support for Business Services department
  • Review and recommend new methods or procedures to make daily operations more efficient
  • Perform considerable short-term planning, scheduling, and coordinating to develop and implement business objectives
  • Set goals for assigned teams to achieve operational and strategic results
  • Provide guidance, mentoring, and development opportunities for directly reporting staff
  • Cultivate strong working relationships, build trust among team members, and respond appropriately to employee's concerns
  • Assist with the development, monitoring, and maintenance of the annual budget
  • Assist with regulatory compliance to ensure work is completed in accordance with applicable laws and government regulations
  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of current trends, laws, and issues affecting area of expertise
  • Attend educational events to increase professional knowledge
  • Complete annual compliance and info security training to understand employee's role in maintaining effective compliance and security programs
