About The Position

The Supervisor of Production II provides frontline leadership and coordination for the Mechanical Services Shop. This role ensures the safe, efficient, and timely flow of work through the shop while fostering a positive, collaborative culture aligned with Voith values.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as JDE or SAP preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years in a supervisory or lead role.
  • Minimum of 2 years of machine shop or comparable industrial experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of machine tools, metal cutting, and papermill roll service preferred.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong negotiation, conflict‑resolution, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to talk and hear in both office (low noise) and shop (high noise) environments.
  • Frequent standing/walking for 4–10 hours.
  • Occasional reaching, lifting, stooping, and crouching.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly shop environment.
  • Supervise and actively support hourly employees to ensure safe work practices, quality output, and operational efficiency.
  • Inspect/sign-off completed work in each phase of process to ensure the highest quality standards are achieved.
  • Maintain adequate inventories of shop supplies to support uninterrupted workflow.
  • Coordinate closely with leadership and Engineering to schedule work and meet customer expectations.
  • Monitor, manage, and improve job quality.
  • Track and manage labor hours to drive efficiency.
  • Train new employees and provide ongoing skill development.
  • Support maintenance planning for shop equipment and facilities.
  • Participate in hiring and employee selection.
  • Administer consistent, fair discipline per company policy.
  • Provide weekend shop management per rotating schedule.
  • Travel occasionally to customer and supplier locations.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.
