Requirements

  • Master of Science degree in nursing with Connecticut licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse.
  • Board certified as either clinical nurse specialist or nurse practitioner by American Nurses Credentialing Center.
  • PMHNP ( Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner.
  • Drug Enforcement Agency license (DEA) and Connecticut Controlled Substance Registration.
  • Good communication skills and documentation and computer literacy/skills.
  • Knowledge of psychiatric illness and substance abuse.
  • Experience in counseling/therapeutic methods and practices, prescribing medications, and supervision of staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize schedules/demands.

Responsibilities

  • Perform medical psychiatric evaluations.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Respond to medical referral line requests.
  • Serve as medical consultant in team meeting.
  • Manage productivity reports for medical staff.
  • Oversee psychiatric referral reports to ensure ECC compliance.
  • Monitor record compliance of medical staff which includes, but is not limited to, progress notes, dictations, etc.
  • Supervise Medical Assistant staff
  • Oversee APRN student internship experience and scheduling
  • Perform any other department or agency-related duties or special projects as directed by supervisor.
