The Supervisor, Facility Maintenance provides leadership and oversight for all building operations and maintenance activities to ensure facilities, equipment, and systems are safe, functional, and compliant with regulatory standards. They manage a team of maintenance technicians, assign and prioritize work orders, and ensure timely completion of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. The Supervisor is responsible for coordinating complex repairs, monitoring building systems performance, and implementing best practices to maximize efficiency and extend asset life cycles. In addition to hands-on technical expertise, the Supervisor requires strong planning and organizational skills to manage budgets, inventory, and vendor relationships. The Supervisor, Facility Maintenance serves as the primary point of contact for contractors and service providers, ensuring quality and compliance with contractual obligations. They also play a key part in emergency response planning, safety training, and continuous improvement initiatives to support a reliable and high-quality environment for students, faculty, and staff. Essential Functions: Executes maintenance and repair work requiring a high level of skill, technical expertise, proper training, and experience in accordance with current industry standards. Operates hand and power tools and utilizes diagnostic instruments. Performs skilled tasks to support the facilities help request system. Responds to customer requests in a timely manner, maintains records of all job assignments, and their status. Responds to emergency calls, including those that occur after hours. Assesses the situation, makes independent decisions on corrective actions and performs work or obtains additional help as needed to correct the problem. Creates and maintains adequate maintenance records of all assigned equipment and building systems using hardcopy logs, spreadsheets, and CMMS programs. Enters data, stores both hardcopy and electronic copies of records, inspections, and reports potential equipment problems and safety issues. Interfaces directly with internal and external customers at all organizational levels. Communicates clearly in both conversation and writing to project an organized and professional appearance for the Facilities department. Uses e-mail, voice mail, and basic Windows applications, (knowledge of Excel a plus) when needed to facilitate this communication. Shares knowledge and acts as a mentor to the facilities team to improve their knowledge and skills. Works as part of the team and is responsible for ensuring all assignments are completed in a timely and professional manner. Organizes and helps in the relocation of furniture, equipment, and other materials within local and outlying regions, providing maximum efficiency in the utilization of university resources. Makes minor modifications to improve form, size, and function of equipment and furnishings. Performs tenant improvement construction. Identifies and procures needed supplies and equipment, estimates labor and materials, and ensures work is completed in a safe, timely manner, in accordance with all applicable codes. Oversees work of outside contractors to ensure quality, safety, and time completion of the specified job. Responsible to ensure all facility department areas are maintained clean, orderly, and fully stocked of required parts and supplies Provides continuous quality improvement. Performs other duties as assigned.
