About The Position

The Internal Resource Team (IRT) provides support and additional resources to nursing units throughout UnityPoint Health—Des Moines during times of vacancy, high acuity, and census variations. The IRT provides support for 17 adult, Medical/Surgical, inpatient nursing units at Iowa Methodist Medical Center, Iowa Lutheran Hospital, and Methodist West Hospital. Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited nursing program.
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • One year of experience as a registered nurse.
  • Current Iowa license as a registered nurse.
  • Current BCLS.
  • Successfully complete department PALS certification within one year of hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership as part of unit management team.
  • Coordinates unit management activities in conjunction with manager/director.
  • Facilitates unit staff development in collaboration with manager/director.
  • Carries out the day-to-day operation plan of the unit under the direction of the manager/director.
  • Serves as a resource to other health team members on the assigned unit.
  • Works collaboratively with other departments to facilitate cost effective health care.
