About the position

The Nursing Supervisor provides leadership and clinical expertise to enhance professional nursing education and development and shares responsibility to integrate evidence-based standards of nursing practice into patient care. Provides clinical and administrative direction and support for the Nursing Department and the entire hospital for an assigned shift. Serves as the on-site, administrative leader to staff, patients, visitors and physicians during the shift. Collaborates on administrative decisions with other department leaders for issues related to their departments in the absence of that manager.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and clinical expertise to enhance professional nursing education and development.
  • Integrate evidence-based standards of nursing practice into patient care.
  • Provide clinical and administrative direction and support for the Nursing Department and the entire hospital for an assigned shift.
  • Serve as the on-site, administrative leader to staff, patients, visitors and physicians during the shift.
  • Collaborate on administrative decisions with other department leaders for issues related to their departments in the absence of that manager.

Requirements

  • BSN and MSN preferred.
  • Current Rhode Island RN license.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills appropriate to the age of the patients served in the assigned service area.
  • Earn 10 CEUs annually.
  • At least two years as an RN in an acute care setting required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous critical care clinical and management experience preferred.
