About The Position

Callen-Lorde is seeking a dynamic and experienced Nursing (RN) Supervisor to provide clinical and operational leadership at our Bronx location. This role partners closely with Nursing Administration to oversee all Nursing Department staff assigned or floated to the Bronx site, including Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs), Medical Assistants (MAs), and other nursing personnel. The Supervisor collaborates with the Operations Manager Bronx and Director of Medicine to support staff performance, patient flow, and overall clinic excellence. In addition to supervisory responsibilities, this role includes limited direct patient care within RN scope of practice.

Requirements

  • New York State Registered Nurse Licensure or higher required. (Physician Assistant, Nurse Practitioner).
  • Current BCLS Certification required.
  • Strong Computer competency including Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, and Outlook), required.
  • Two Years experience in an out-patient clinical setting preferred.
  • A track record of building diverse, high-performing teams and cross functional partnerships.
  • Effective communication skills with patients, colleagues, and other healthcare professionals.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and work under stress in a dynamic environment, managing patient care needs effectively.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.

  • Experience serving Callen-Lorde’s target LGBT populations preferred.
  • Prior experience in a social services or healthcare setting and/or a non-profit organization highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, schedule, and support Nursing Department staff assigned to the Bronx site, including LPNs and Medical Assistants.
  • Provide leadership, mentorship, performance management, and participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of nursing staff.
  • Ensure consistent, high-quality patient care through oversight of documentation, referrals, lab follow-up, and adherence to clinical protocols.
  • Deliver approximately four direct patient care sessions per week, including triage, RN visits, patient education, injections, and phlebotomy within RN scope of practice.
  • Monitor patient flow and collaborate with providers and operations to support access, visit volume, and clinical performance benchmarks.
  • Lead and participate in quality improvement initiatives, chart reviews, regulatory compliance, and patient satisfaction efforts.
  • Oversee medication inventory, medical supplies, and equipment needs.
  • Address patient concerns and partner across departments to ensure efficient clinic operations.
  • Serve as Administrator on Duty and participate in after-hours on-call coverage as assigned.
