General Summary Supervises personnel and assists in managing the Imaging Department daily operations. Provides imaging services. Performs duties as on call team leader and is able to train new staff. Essential Functions: Evaluates, for effectiveness, all services rendered and makes recommendations regarding addition and deletion of service. Develops and oversees departmental policies, philosophy, plan, goals and objectives. Maintains drug control for department, in conjunction with Pharmaceutical Services. Provides in service education for technologist and participates in instruction Common Expectations: Selects, trains/orients, assigns department staff, evaluates performance, and makes recommendations for personnel actions. Prepares work assignments and weekly schedule for imaging technologists. Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s). Responsible for the care and maintenance of department/entity equipment and supplies. Ensures that preventative maintenance is performed according to the established schedule. Manages resources within budgetary guidelines. Assists in developing the annual budgetary request for department and administers approved budget. Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required. Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards. Maintains current awareness of Federal, State and local regulations and standards of the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations pertaining to Nuclear Medicine and recommends compliance. Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops. Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
