About The Position

The position of NDT Supervisor (Fluorescent Penetrant Testing, Fluorescent Penetrant Processing, Magnetic Particle Testing, Eddy-Current Testing, Ultrasonic Testing, Wet Etch and X-Ray) will lead a highly experienced team in the disciplines of Non-Destructive Testing (NDT). This position is responsible for the requirements of the NDT Department during the assigned shift. The NDT Supervisor will ensure that the scheduled work is executed safely and in a systematic manner so that qualified technicians can perform the assigned tasks. This position will monitor the completion of work while confirming the quality standards are being met. From a technical experience standpoint, the NDT Supervisor will apply their knowledge and skills while abiding to the National Aerospace Standard 410 for turbine engine components, primarily used in the aerospace industry or similar field of experience. Under the guidance of the NDT Manager and assistance from the Responsible Level III, exercise the privileges of the company certifications and supervise the preparation, processing and inspecting of parts in various stages of repair using Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) methods. This position operates from an all-new state-of-the-art facility with ultra-modern technology and equipment throughout and a climate-controlled environment.

Requirements

  • A minimum of one year of experience in a supervisory or similar type responsibility.
  • Technical competencies and familiarity in NDT procedures with inspection experience preferred.
  • The ability to interpret and follow written and verbal instructions accurately, including reading and interpretation of shop drawings.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, motivate team members, and multitask daily.
  • Shown a previous ability to successfully pass skill level tests in other trades or disciplines.
  • Basic knowledge of computers and standard software programs.
  • Ability to pass the two vision tests including the Ishihara Color Certification and Jaeger Reading Certification as required per NAS410.

Nice To Haves

  • High school graduate, technical school completion or military or similar experience.
  • Aviation maintenance, repair or testing experience.
  • Some college level (or similar) courses in areas such as metallurgy, welding engineering, airframe repair and manufacturing processes.
  • Previous experience and/or the ability to perform mathematical operations, including working with decimals, fractions, and basic shop math.
  • Previous experience or familiarity with measuring gages such as calipers and micrometers.

Responsibilities

  • Follow established safety protocols and guidelines to ensure full compliance with company safety policies and procedures.
  • Monitor assigned work while reviewing completed jobs/projects to ensure adherence to work scope and company expectations, including quality expectations and labor factor adherence.
  • Constantly monitor and adjust job assignments to ensure that the production schedule is met in partnership with the scheduling and planning department.
  • Utilize computer software programs and applications in assigning, verifying, tracking, and monitoring metrics and job assignments.
  • Motivate, coach, and counsel team members to achieve desired results.
  • Manage personnel work hours, scheduled time off, shift schedules, and overtime.
  • Perform functions, such as performance reviews, employee development, accountability of team members, conflict resolution, and disciplinary action within the NDT Department.
  • Collaborate with designated trainers and department managers to monitor, guide, and improve upon employee development as well as process improvements.
  • Conduct regularly scheduled department meetings, including monthly meetings and smaller more frequent group meetings as required.
  • Communicate changes that affect employees in a timely manner.
  • Complete the on-the-job training program and NAS410 certification requirements for a Level II certification in one of the five NDT methods used at CRT and maintain proficiency thereof.
  • Oversee NDT inspections in accordance with the manufacturers original equipment manual (OEM) procedures in all applicable NDT methods used at CRT.
  • Ensure the proper set up and oversee the processing of parts, ensure proper interpretation and evaluation for acceptance or rejection and ensure accurate recording and documenting of results.
  • Monitor that each department employee has a thorough understanding of the scope of limitation of the technique or method used for part certification.
  • Ensure system performance checks are performed in accordance with the applicable process standards.
  • Receive guidance from the designated Level III in various processing methods and relay said information to team members in a timely and understandable manner.
