The Microbiology Supervisor at QualTex Laboratories is responsible for managing daily operations in the microbiology lab, overseeing a team of microbiologists, ensuring regulatory compliance, and implementing quality control measures. This role is crucial for developing new protocols and providing technical expertise while maintaining high standards of quality and safety in laboratory practices.

  • Supervise overall activities related to the microbiology laboratory and provide leadership to the staff.
  • Monitor staff performance and assign workflow schedules.
  • Interview and make recommendations regarding hiring, terminating, promoting, and evaluating departmental personnel.
  • Train laboratory staff on proper techniques, procedures, and safety protocols.
  • Lead team-oriented work projects for the development and implementation of validations and process improvements.
  • Collaborate with management to identify opportunities for workflow optimization.
  • Assist in developing and managing the laboratory budget and tracking expenses.
  • Oversee management of outsourced testing including sample shipment and result reconciliation.
  • Maintain strict adherence to SOPs and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and instrument malfunctions during testing procedures.
  • Perform routine data entry, analysis, and prepare reports measuring laboratory performance.
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university; Master's Degree preferred in Microbiology or Applied Science.
  • Six or more years of laboratory experience including microbiology.
  • Experience with laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and relevant software applications.
  • Strong understanding of microbiological techniques, including culture and identification.
  • Knowledge of regulatory/quality compliance including FDA, EU, ISO, GHM, cGMP, OSHA.
  • Certified Medical Technologist (MT)(CLS)/ MLT or equivalent preferred.
  • US Passport preferred.
  • Categorical Certifications preferred.
