About The Position

The Supervisor/Manager-Accounting position at Kinder Morgan Inc. is responsible for managing the operational and capital accounting activities for the Gulf Area of the Terminals division. This role involves overseeing the accounting cycle, ensuring compliance with GAAP, and supervising staff while maintaining financial integrity and accuracy in reporting.

Requirements

  • Minimum five years' experience actively supervising/managing a finance/accounting environment.
  • Degree in Accounting/Finance, CPA and/or MBA preferred.
  • Fundamental understanding of accounting and financial principles.
  • Working experience with ERP systems, preferably Lawson, HFM, and Blackline.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong analytical skills, including financial modeling, operations analysis, and internal reporting.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate with various individuals at different levels.
  • Ability to organize work effectively, prioritize daily tasks, and self-motivate while being detail-oriented.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously, often with strict deadlines, while maintaining high quality of work.
  • Strong preference for O&G industry work experience, especially in Mid-stream operations.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the monthly and quarterly accounting cycle for the opex and capex functions for Gulf Area's 15 terminals.
  • Ensure timely and accurate financial statements and compliance with GAAP.
  • Supervise staff, including mentoring, setting goals, and providing timely performance feedback.
  • Monitor and work on financial and operational audits, applying Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) controls.
  • Develop and implement internal controls and standardize processes when applicable.
  • Review monthly Balance Sheet reconciliations.
  • Monitor and analyze reports, researching variances and providing explanations.
  • Monitor capital spending within the region for project overruns and timely close out of completed AFE.
  • Interface with all levels of management to obtain necessary information for duties.
  • Complete special projects and annual objectives as assigned.
