About The Position

About the Job: The Supervisor of Environment of Care is responsible for the day to day operation of the maintenance and compliance of the buildings, grounds, fixtures, and equipment of the facility and scheduling needed to keep a clean, safe and healthy environment for client care. Areas of responsibility may include two or more of the following functional areas: safety, security, maintenance, facilities, materials management, and housekeeping. Supervises and coordinates activities of the department staff.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Three or more years’ experience in similar position with one year experience in building maintenance required.
  • Valid state driver's license (if required by state or facility).

  • Degree from a vocational school or Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or Facility Management preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the day to day maintenance of the facility and ensures that all life safety and environment of care standards are maintained in relation to OSHA, OHFLAC, TJC, state and local fire marshal, health departments and other regulatory agency requirements.
  • Coordinates general building maintenance including plumbing, carpentry, painting, roofing, minor repairs and electrical work. Ensures that maintenance projects are completed timely, safely, and within budget and that the highest cleaning and safety standards are maintained in all company owned and leased properties.
  • Performs regular environment of care inspections to identify maintenance repair needs, safety concerns, and compliance issues. Maintains facility safety records.
  • Ensures preventative maintenance and documentation are completed on all equipment and systems including company owned vehicles, housekeeping equipment (washers, dryers, vacuum cleaners etc.), water systems, emergency electrical systems, sewage systems, primary electrical systems, telephone systems, fire alarm systems and heating and cooling systems.
  • Supervises department staff and may perform hiring, orienting, performance assessment and management, motivating, training, scheduling, and coaching to meet department goals and ensure effective and efficient department operation.
  • Maintains the interior and exterior of buildings and grounds in all seasons. Must be available for snow removal and transporting staff using company vehicle during inclement weather.
  • Ensures that all staff actively participate in all fire safety and disaster preparedness drills and annual fire safety training.
  • Determines need for equipment, materials, supplies, etc., orders and maintains inventories.
  • Coordinates and supervises all necessary regulatory inspections of facilities with outside agencies.
  • Inspects completed work assignments performed by internal and external works to ensure all standards are met and that the facility is in a sanitary, attractive, safe, orderly condition.
  • Responds to facility fire and disaster situations immediately and assists per emergency plans.
  • Ensures that the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) database is up to date at all times.
