Provides leadership and coordination to the magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) service area to ensure efficient and effective delivery of services according to the mission, vision and strategic goals of Sanford Health. Provides work direction to ensure that daily responsibilities of staff technologists are properly delegated. Performs MRI diagnostic radiographic procedures through the operation of specialized equipment. Attends staff, manager, interdepartmental, and quarterly meetings. Attends service line meetings with radiologists, administration, and supervisor modalities to discuss how radiology is impacting the hospital. Performs diagnostic MRI exams as necessary. Completes medical information data analysis system (MIDAS) reports and performs administrative duties. Exercises professional judgment in the performance of procedures, MRI safety considerations and provides a quality patent care experience. Initiates life support measures as necessary. Extensive knowledge of operation of all MRI equipment and understands computer language.

Requirements

  • Completion of an educational program accepted by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is required.
  • Thorough understanding of MRI techniques, procedures, and quality control (QC) testing is required.
  • Registration with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologist (ARMRIT) required.
  • MRI certified at the time of hire is required.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) and performing medical imaging or radiation therapy procedures, licensure through the ND Medical Imaging and Radiation Therapy (NDMIRT) Board is required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within six weeks of employment and re-certification as necessary is required.

Nice To Haves

  • Three years’ experience as a MRI technologist preferred.
  • One year previous leadership/supervisory experience in a healthcare setting is preferred.
