Position Summary The Night Shift Supervisor is responsible for overseeing shipping, receiving, recycling, and production support activities during night operations in a high-security printing environment. This role ensures compliance with security protocols, safety standards, quality requirements, and production schedules while supervising hourly staff and temporary employees. The supervisor serves as the primary point of contact for night shift operations in shipping/receiving and ensures seamless handoff to day shift leadership.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, warehousing, or production support
  • 1+ year of supervisory or lead experience
  • Strong understanding of safety, security, and compliance requirements
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • High attention to detail and accountability
  • Ability to work independently during night shift hours
  • Effective written and verbal communication
  • Ability to handle confidential materials and sensitive information
  • Proficiency with inventory systems, shipping systems, and basic reporting tools
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to operate material handling equipment safely.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, secure manufacturing environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a regulated or high-security manufacturing environment preferred
  • Forklift certification or ability to obtain certification

Responsibilities

  • Shipping & Receiving Operations Supervise all inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring accurate documentation, secure handling, and on-time movement of materials.
  • Verify bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping documentation for accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure finished goods and raw materials are staged, labeled, and secured according to company and customer requirements.
  • Coordinate dock activities, carrier arrivals, and trailer security during night operations.
  • Production Support Support production lines by ensuring timely delivery of materials, supplies, and work-in-process.
  • Recycling & Waste Management Oversee recycling and waste handling processes, including secure destruction of printed materials and production scrap.
  • Ensure recycling activities comply with security, environmental, and customer requirements.
  • Security & Compliance Enforce all high-security printing protocols, including access control, material accountability, and document integrity.
  • Immediately investigate and report security incidents, discrepancies, or policy violations.
  • Ensure all employees follow confidentiality and data protection requirements.
  • Safety & Housekeeping Promote and enforce a safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
  • Conduct safety observations, incident investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure docks, production support areas, and recycling zones are clean, organized, and audit-ready.
  • Leadership & Supervision Supervise, train, and coach shipping, receiving, and recycling associates Assign work, monitor performance, and ensure staffing levels meet operational needs.
  • Address attendance, performance, and disciplinary issues in accordance with company policy.
  • Lead shift start-up meetings and communicate expectations clearly.
  • Communication & Reporting Maintain accurate shift reports, including production support activities, shipments, incidents, and staffing concerns.
  • Communicate operational status, issues, and handoff notes to day shift leadership.
  • Partner with Production, Quality, Security, and Maintenance teams to resolve issues.
