About The Position

FOX is seeking an experienced and dynamic Supervisor, Live Media to oversee, supervise, and support all live programming for its major broadcast and cable networks, with a primary focus on Cable Live events across FS1, FS2, FSR, FSP, Fox Deportes, and Tubi. This role demands a meticulous focus on event oversight, personnel supervision, and workflow optimization from preparation through live execution. The Supervisor, Live Media will oversee, supervise, and support the day-to-day operation for all Live programming for the multiple Cable Networks. While the primary focus is the execution of Cable Live events, this role will also assist with network live events as needed. You will serve as a key point of contact for client requirements and live event requests, requiring coordination with the Live Integration Team and broader Broadcast Operations staff to supervise all on-air and off-air scenarios. You will be responsible for ensuring that all linear and digital properties are fully prepared to support live events, including supervising media aspects and implementing contingency planning for overrun scenarios. This role also includes responsibility for supervising the necessary media delivery workflows and procedures that are required to support the Live Integration Team.

Requirements

  • Broadcast Leadership: 3+ years of experience in live television production or master control operations, specifically within a Cable Sports or News environment.
  • Technical Supervision: Proven track record of supervising complex media workflows and digital delivery systems for live linear and OTT platforms (e.g., Tubi).
  • Event Expertise: Deep understanding of live sports timing, including the supervision of commercial integration and overtime/overrun procedures.
  • Technical Skills
  • Master Control/Playout Systems: Full understanding of master control playout automation systems is essential.
  • Media/Systems Expertise: Deep knowledge of playout automation system, on-air graphics devices, server playout and configuration, and on-air tickers.
  • Problem-Solving: Capability of quickly restoring all technical failures to avoid revenue loss during playout origination.
  • Communication: Ability to translate and communicate business requirements into operational and technical requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Industry Standards: Knowledge of industry standards such as Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA) and Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE) is beneficial.
  • Education: A bachelor’s degree is awesome, but not required; experience is also highly valued.
  • Software: Proficiency at Microsoft Excel and Google Docs is useful.

Responsibilities

  • Personnel Supervision
  • Supervise live media staff, providing day-to-day direction, guidance.
  • Assist in scheduling technical operators to meet the production needs of Cable Live events and support Network Live events as required.
  • Collaborate with department leadership to develop and maintain staffing schedules, ensuring adequate coverage for routine programming and high-demand live events.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing development of team members, with a focus on live broadcast workflows.
  • Encourage a professional, collaborative work environment that promotes accountability, growth, and high performance.
  • Live Event Operations
  • Oversee operational readiness for Cable Live events, ensuring staffing, workflows, and resources are aligned with production requirements.
  • Assist with Network Live events by supporting operational execution, coordination, and troubleshooting as needed.
  • Serve as a point of contact for live event needs, addressing issues quickly to minimize on-air impact.
  • Partner with Engineering, Production, and Operations teams to resolve technical and logistical challenges during live broadcasts.
  • Collaboration & Performance
  • Work cross-functionally to ensure smooth communication and coordination across departments involved in live event production.
  • Monitor live operations and identify opportunities for workflow improvements and efficiency gains.
  • Contribute to post-event reviews to identify successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
