The Supervisor, Library Technical Services at Glendale Community College (GCC) is a leadership role focused on enhancing student success and promoting equity within library operations. The position involves overseeing library technical services, including acquisitions, cataloging, and processing, while fostering a collaborative environment that prioritizes diverse perspectives and culturally responsive practices. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing staff, resolving operational issues, and implementing policies that support the college's mission as a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

  • Supervises and coordinates library technical services and operations including acquisitions, cataloging, continuations, serials, physical processing, and book repair.
  • Provides information and assistance to employees on ordering, receiving, editing, and processing library materials; resolves operational and procedural problems.
  • Monitors and tracks budgets for assigned areas.
  • Recommends and implements goals, policies, and procedures related to areas of responsibility; contributes to program review processes.
  • Handles and resolves conflicts and issues and reports complaints as appropriate.
  • Promotes diversity, equity, inclusion, cultural competency, and a positive work and academic environment.
  • Coordinates and oversees the implementation and modification of technology.
  • Supervises department employees; assigns and monitors employee's work and evaluates employee performance; trains employees; participates in employee selection.
  • Monitors and reviews programs and/or operations for legal compliance.
  • Analyzes and interprets data; prepares, reviews, and/or approves documents and reports.
  • Associate's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Four (4) years of library experience, including circulation.
  • Knowledge of library practices and procedures, including library terminology, bibliographic records, and procedures for processing, shelving, and maintaining library collections.
  • Experience with computerized library management systems and online catalogs and databases.
