Department Laundry and Linen Job Summary Under minimal supervision, the Laundry Supervisor, oversees and coordinates teams who operate industrial laundry equipment and work in the operation of an institutional laundry. Assures that the hospital laundry produces and distributes a clean, sanitary product in compliance with infection control guidelines. Trains and evaluates laundry staff. Essential Functions: Manages and coordinates the activities of employees assigned to the area; determines work procedures and expedites workflow; assigns and reviews work in various areas for compliance and accuracy; inspects or rejects work in progress, and prepares necessary and required reports to management. (30%) Performs as the lead worker in all areas of the laundry. Incidental to other duties, assists or works in any area of laundry requiring assistance. Coaches and trains employees. Operates laundry equipment and performs minor repairs. (30%) Ensures timely delivery of hospital linen, pick up soiled linens and checks the conditions of linens for worn spots or tears. Assures that laundry from areas requiring specialized washing and decontamination methods is properly handled. (20%) Assists with staff scheduling, ordering and inventory and record keeping and report preparation. Ensures cleanliness of the entire laundry area. (20%) Education: No High School Diploma and/or No GED Work Experience: 1-3 years Required Licenses: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of laundry room equipment Excellent customer service skills. Ability to utilize interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
