About The Position

This position is responsible for the overall performance of their assigned laboratory shift. This includes running specific laboratory equipment and testing samples daily that require special knowledge of processes. Responsibilities also include lab equipment maintenance and repair, supervision of lab employees, movement of employees to facilitate proper workflow, and inventory control.

Requirements

Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to petroleum products, fumes, odors, mists, and dusts
OSHA Training
Leadership skills
Demonstrated ability to manage staff or 3 years supervisory experience
Wearing of personal protective equipment as required
Ability to work under pressure and deadlines
Ability to multi-task
Computer literate
Basic mathematics skills
Lift or move up to 50 lbs. regularly
Detail oriented
Ability to distinguish between colors
High School diploma or equivalent
Supervisory experience
Chemistry training or laboratory experience preferred

Responsibilities

Facilitate a “team environment”
Approves overtime
Manages end of shift and safety checklists
Manages QC paperwork
Administer disciplinary actions and reviews
Manager hazardous waste/used oil pick up
Inventory management
Help with interviews
Manage production reports
Perform daily routine lab analysis
Inspect, maintain and repair laboratory equipment
Supervise lab employees and facilitate production
Responsible for inventory control
Observe and read instrumentation to determine operating conditions during testing
Train lab new and existing lab personnel
Plan schedules and work flow
Monitor department production and report statistics
Assist in safety training and compliance
Track employee attendance
Conduct employee reviews and disciplinary actions
Audit production for accuracy
Other duties as assigned by management
