About The Position

Position Summary: The Supervisor, Laboratory is responsible for providing professional leadership and day-to-day supervision of all laboratory operations and clinical activities within the assigned area, facility or facilities, ensuring the safe, efficient, and high quality delivery of laboratory services across the continuum of care. The incumbent is accountable for the oversight and coordination of daily operations, ensuring all operations are performed in alignment with health system standards and all applicable regulatory and accreditation requirements, including The Joint Commission, College of American Pathologists, Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments, and applicable state and federal regulations. This role assists with the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of daily laboratory operations and participates in the development and evaluation of departmental policies and procedures, preparing short and long range goals and objectives for review and approval. The Supervisor provides direct oversight to laboratory coworkers across all assigned functional areas and is responsible for the orientation, training, performance feedback, and professional development of assigned coworkers. This position collaborates with pathologists, clinical leadership, and administrative leadership to support quality improvement initiatives, operational efficiency, and patient satisfaction. The Supervisor exercises independent judgment in managing day-to-day laboratory operations and the execution of established departmental objectives.

Requirements

  • Two or more years applicable experience
  • Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties
  • Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job
  • Must be willing to work variable shifts and overtime as required
  • Must be willing to testify in court regarding testing activities if subpoenaed
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
  • Current CA CLS License or CA limited license in area of specialty
  • Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System
