About The Position

The Supervisor of Production (Third Shift) is a key member of the manufacturing leadership team responsible for directing, coordinating, and supporting all production activities from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. This leader ensures operational excellence across welding, brake press operations, laser cutting, assembly, shipping, receiving, and material flow for the Caddo Mills facility. This role drives a high-performance culture focused on safety, quality, associate engagement, productivity, and continuous improvement, while maintaining seamless communication with first and second-shift teams. The ideal candidate is a confident, hands-on supervisor with strong technical knowledge of fabrication processes and a proven ability to lead diverse teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment (metal fabrication preferred).
  • Strong working knowledge of welding, brake press operations, tooling setup, laser cutting machines, and material flow.
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams on overnight or off-shift operations.
  • Ability to read blueprints, engineering drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication and ability to coach and motivate diverse teams.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a facility with shipping/receiving, fabrication, and finishing operations.
  • Familiarity with Workday, production tracking software, or MES systems.
  • Prior experience in a lean manufacturing environment or CI training (5S, Kaizen, Standard Work).
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a strong plus.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise nightly production operations across welding, brake press, laser cutting, assembly, and material handling departments.
  • Assign work orders, coordinate job priorities, and allocate labor based on skills and production demands.
  • Ensure production goals for output, on-time delivery, scrap reduction, and efficiency are met or exceeded.
  • Proactively remove barriers impacting workflow and escalate critical issues to leadership promptly.
  • Lead, motivate, and coach third-shift associates, promoting a culture of accountability, respect, and teamwork.
  • Conduct nightly startup huddles, communicate expectations, and reinforce standard work and KPIs.
  • Recognize and address attendance, performance, or behavioral issues in partnership with Human Resources.
  • Ensure new hires receive proper onboarding, hands-on training, cross-training, and safety instruction.
  • Provide skills coaching to associates on welding, brake press set-ups, tooling, machine troubleshooting, and fabrication best practices.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by enforcing PPE, machine guarding, lock-out/tag-out, forklift protocols, and facility standards.
  • Conduct nightly walkthroughs and safety audits; correct hazards immediately.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and unsafe behaviors and ensure corrective actions are completed on time.
  • Partner with the Safety Manager to reinforce OSHA, corporate safety policies, and environmental compliance.
  • Monitor product quality throughout the shift, ensuring compliance with prints, tolerances, specifications, and customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with QA to address non-conformances and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Support creation and reinforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) across welding, brake press, laser cutting, and assembly processes.
  • Identify improvement opportunities and lead small-group or Kaizen activities focused on efficiency, material flow, safety, and waste reduction.
  • Analyze production data to identify bottlenecks and proactively adjust staffing, workflow, or machine utilization.
  • Implement 5S principles on third shift to maintain a clean, organized, and efficient work environment.
  • Drive consistent adoption of best practices from other Zurn Elkay manufacturing facilities.
  • Maintain seamless communication with 1st and 2nd shift leadership, maintenance, HR, and production planning.
  • Prepare daily production updates, downtime logs, staffing reports, and shift notes for leadership review.
  • Ensure pass-down meetings at shift change are clear, accurate, and actionable.
