About The Position

JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for supervising all general horticulture maintenance activities to ensure the highest possible quality standards for UO landscape areas. In addition to overseeing and implementing all UO safety policies and procedures among team members. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: Creates and disseminates horticulture work schedules using the Kronos time and attendance management system. Completes employee performance appraisals, tracks necessary EHS training needs, and provides resources for horticulture team members to improve their horticultural knowledge and skills. Coordinates with other UO departments and tracks work orders using Maximo system to support all Horticulture labor and non labor expense. In addition, utilizing our Maximo systems to update essential data for daily operations within our division. Monitors Horticulture budgets weekly to stay on trend for actual and budgeted expense. Prepares allotted budgets to include daily operation and LRP (Long Range Planning) for future development. Assists and develops scope of work and issues maintenance directives for all horticulture team members by monitoring the cultural requirements in all areas. Monitors the quality and effectiveness of landscaping work. The use of horticulture tools, equipment, and material availability. Oversees equipment distribution and preventive maintenance to all equipment. Coordinates and creates area designs, seasonal UO horticulture themes, and research and development of new plant species. Oversees emergency planning and response, vendor/supplier inspections, landscape licensing requirements i.e.: Valid Florida driver’s license. Understands and actively participates in Environmental, Health & Safety responsibilities by following established UO policy, procedures, training and team member involvement activities. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school degree or GED required.
  • 3-5 Years: experience in Landscape Operations required.
  • 1-3 Years: experience in a supervisory capacity required.
  • Valid Florida driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree (BA) / Associate degree (AA) or equivalent from two-year College or Technical school Horticulture or related field preferred.
  • 5-7 Years: experience in Landscape Operations preferred.
  • Master Gardener, Pest Control Operators License, and Certified Arborist preferred.
