About The Position

Responsible for overseeing daily workflow of H.I.M. coders. Works with other departments as necessary to ensure correct billing and coding functions are performed that results in a clear patient bill or medical record.

Requirements

• GED or High School Diploma
• Effective September 22, 2025, one of the following certifications is required at hire or transfer: RHIA or RHIT CCS CPC
• Effective September 22, 2025, current incumbents must obtain one of the following certifications by December 1, 2025: RHIA or RHIT CCS CPC
• 1–2 years of supervisory experience
• Ability to plan, organize, and complete projects in a timely and efficient manner
• Knowledge of ICD-10-CM/PCS, CPT-4, HCPCS, MS/APR DRGs, and Case Mix Analysis
• Global understanding of the revenue cycle and chargemaster
• High level of accuracy, thoroughness, sound judgment, and decision-making ability
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to adjust work procedures for maximum efficiency
• Proficient in utilizing technology for administrative support and efficiency (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite, Access)
• Excellent oral and written communication and presentation skills

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor’s Degree (or higher) in Health Information Management
• 3–5 years of supervisory experience in a large teaching facility with a Level I Trauma Center
• Remote work experience and remote oversight preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist with the management and supervision of outpatient coding staff, as requested.
• Attend, participate in, and present information at staff meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor, consistent with the scope of the position.
