About The Position

Supervises and provides operational leadership in planning, organizing, directing, controlling and evaluating the day to day operational functions related to the Food Production area to ensure effective and efficient delivery of services and/or achievement of business results. Establishes protocols and practices, ensuring compliance with department, affiliate, operating unit, and/or system standards, policies and procedures and applicable laws and regulations. Identifies and implements cost savings and best practices, using Lean or other process improvement methods and concepts. Collaborates with others to coordinate services, streamline work flow, standardize procedures, and/or drive positive outcomes.

Requirements

  • HS Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
  • SS-Serve Save Certified.
  • CDM- Certified Dietary Manager within 2 years.
  • 5 years of recent relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food service and food production.
  • Knowledge of catering service, menu planning, and scheduling.
  • Understanding of applicable local, state, and federal laws and regulations.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills, including team building and coaching.
  • General understanding of department operations and workflows.
  • Verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to handle difficult circumstances and make sound business decisions.
  • Demonstrates ability to work in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates organizational and time management skills.
  • Demonstrates commitment to providing exceptional customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises the day-to-day Food Production operations and resources.
  • Makes daily rounds with staff to ensure staff have appropriate tools and resources.
  • Conducts service recovery when necessary.
  • Works with employees to assure food is prepared, served and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
  • Serves as a resource to team to remove barriers hindering process improvement and efficiency.
  • Develops and implements standard work, processes and workflows.
  • Leads continuous improvement efforts using Lean or other process improvement methods.
  • Implements and enforces adherence to department standards, policies and procedures.
  • Ensures appropriate records are maintained for documentation and audit purposes.
  • Promotes efficient and effective communications between departments.
  • Identifies areas of non-compliance or vulnerability and develops corrective action plans.
  • Communicates priorities and operational objectives.
  • Keeps leadership informed of operations and escalates complex issues.
  • Responds to emergencies and/or calls from staff after regular operating hours.
  • May perform tasks to assist team during peak periods.
  • May assume responsibilities of one-up leader role during absence.
  • Provides and fosters an inclusive work environment.
  • Supervises assigned staff and makes input into hiring and termination decisions.

  • Provides input to leadership on current and future personnel needs.
  • May prepare reports and analyses identifying operational trends.
