PRIMARY PURPOSE: Serve as the shift supervisor in the Facility Security Operations Center (Security Control), overseeing the safety and protection of Progressive Field during one of three standard shifts. This position ensures the seamless operation of the Progressive Field Security System and the effective use of all safety, security, and life-saving technologies around the clock - 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. Through strong coordination, quick decision-making, and a commitment to excellence, the Shift Supervisor helps maintain a secure and welcoming environment for all guests, staff, and players. The current opening for this position is responsible for the 4 PM – 12 AM shift.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.
  • In sufficient physical condition to perform foot patrols of the ballpark totaling more than an hour during all weather conditions.
  • Proven interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and resolve conflict diplomatically.
  • Robust time management and decision-making abilities, especially in high-pressure or emergency situations.
  • Proven ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at once in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
  • Demonstrates the ability to read, speak, comprehend, and communicate effectively in order to perform job duties and interact with coworkers.
  • Ability to build robust, professional relationships with teammates by demonstrating interpersonal skills, approachability, and a collaborative spirit contributing to a positive, respectful work environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in an operations or command center, law enforcement, military, or related security environment is highly desirable.
  • Education or specialized training emergency management is preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience leading individuals or teams, with a proven ability to coordinate people and resources effectively.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and related applications), with strong attention to documentation and communication accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the daily Security Control operations during assigned shifts in partnership with Team Lead across multiple organizational assets, including the Cleveland Guardians Executive Office Building (and Executive Entrance), employee parking and entrances, the New Day Parking Garage, Progressive Field during non-event days, and the Underground Service Area (USA) ensuring all access points remain secure and monitored.
  • Oversee staffing assignments for Part-Time Year-Round security personnel ensuring the consistent execution of security protocols and real-time response.
  • Verify the effective completion of perimeter checks throughout Progressive Field to maintain a safe and secure environment for all employees and guests.
  • Maintain accurate shift logs, ensure proper incident reporting and coordination, initiate work orders to support facility maintenance efforts, and provide meaningful input into staff development through feedback and performance assessments.
  • Respond rapidly and decisively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, coordinating security resources and support across multiple operational needs to ensure safety continuity and strong situational awareness.
  • Cultivate and maintain strong working relationships with partner organizations, including Rocket Arenda Security, Gateway Security, and local first responders (Cleveland Police and Fire), supporting coordinated safety efforts and rapid response capabilities across all venues.
  • Supervise the operation, monitoring, and troubleshooting of key security technologies, including video surveillance, access control, gate and proximity alarms, and life-safety systems, to ensure continuous protection and minimize operational downtime.
  • Escalate and document any system malfunctions to maintain the highest standards of readiness.
  • Partner with the Security Team Lead to document core Security Control processes and initiatives.
  • Execute established emergency response procedures swiftly and effectively in alignment with company safety and security protocols, minimizing risk and safeguarding staff, guests, and property during critical incidents.
  • Oversee maintenance and compliance of critical life-safety systems, including fire extinguishers, sprinkler systems, fire alarms, and AEDs, ensuring all equipment functions properly and meets regulatory standards.
  • Manage tracking and accountability for department assets, such as security radios, keys, vehicles, and golf carts, to ensure proper control, operational readiness, and efficient resource use.
