What You’ll Do As a department supervisor, you’ll provide active, on‑the‑floor leadership to ensure your team delivers safe, accurate, and timely evaluations of hand instrumentation and electro‑mechanical medical devices. This includes functional and cosmetic inspections as well as software upgrades. You will be the driving force behind daily operations, team development, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position is primarily on‑site and may require hours beyond a standard workday based on operational needs (with flexibility for occasional work‑from‑home tasks).

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 3–5 years of supervisory experience in manufacturing or distribution
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Experience with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS)
  • Ability to train, coach, discipline, and develop team members
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving abilities
  • Quality‑focused mindset

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • SAP knowledge
  • LEAN/Continuous Improvement training or certification
  • Experience overseeing personnel and cross‑functional decision‑making
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Experience with medical equipment or technical documentation
  • Knowledge of inspection/evaluation/assembly processes

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the safety, security, and well‑being of your team members.
  • Execute and reinforce company and departmental policies.
  • Train, coach, and develop associates to enhance skillsets and performance.
  • Monitor associate behaviors, ensure standards are followed, and address risks proactively.
  • Oversee evaluation processes for customer and company‑owned assets.
  • Ensure all SOPs and work instructions are followed, audited, and improved.
  • Forecast labor needs daily and make adjustments to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.
  • Manage workflows, resolve exceptions, and use CI tools to diagnose and eliminate issues.
  • Review and act on KPI metrics including safety, productivity, SLA adherence, audit results, and continuous improvement contributions.
  • Maintain accurate reporting in systems including Kronos, LMS, SAP, VOC, and internal dashboards.
  • Support and enforce compliance and Quality Management System requirements.
  • Plan for incoming and outgoing workflow and create action plans for out‑of‑control situations.
  • Communicate regularly with internal partners and leadership regarding department performance, risks, and solutions.
  • Oversee expediting requests and ensure timely resolution.
  • Serve as backup to the manager for workflow allocation and meetings.
  • Lead and support initiatives such as 5S, VOC programs, Idea Boards, audits, and visual control systems.
  • Approve, quantify, and implement CI ideas to reduce waste and improve service.
  • Maintain accurate Kanban inventory.
  • Manage calibration and preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Support complaint investigations.
  • Oversee storage and maintenance of software files for electro‑mechanical devices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
