About The Position

Responsible for providing efficient and effective guidance and broad supervision of all staff in the Housekeeping Department primarily, and Maintenance area secondarily as needed. Will coordinate functions, activities, and schedules, solve procedural problems and be required to make independent decisions concerning emergency situations.

  • Drivers License - Licensing Board
  • At least 2 years of general housekeeping experience, 2 years of general maintenance experience, 2 years of supervision and / or an acceptable equivalent combination of experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates and conducts staff on-the-job training / orientation for Facility Services along with the Facility Services Manager.
  • Assists with the collection and maintenance of records as needed by the Quality Assurance Department, Joint Commission accreditation, OSHA guidelines or as may be required by the law.
  • Communicates with the staff frequently and reports feedback in a timely fashion to the Facility Service Manager.
  • Assumes routine daily management responsibilities in the absence of the Facility Service Manager.
  • Participates in staff assignments as needed to maintain efficiency within the Facility Services Department.
  • Coordinates the scheduling process and maintains appropriate staffing levels to maximize department efficiency.
  • Comprehends / interprets Avera policies and procedures and instructs staff appropriately for compliance purposes.
  • Provides input for the development of the annual department budget (i.e.) capital equipment needs).
  • Maintains clinical competence in order to serve as a resource to the staff. This may include but is not limited to: performing a broad variety of general housekeeping and maintenance duties as needed, regularly checking in with other department staff areas on their needs, to improve safety and environment of care.
  • Implements and supports change in the department due to Lean data results. Ensures changes in work, such as, but not limited to, schedules, orientation, standard procedures, cross training; all staff adheres to equipment changes.
  • Works closely with Facility Service Manager to improve processes within the Housekeeping department.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, developing, training, and retaining employees; planning, assigning, and leading work; appraising performance; rewarding and coaching employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
