About The Position

A Brief Overview Supervises work activities of Environmental Services Staff members. Direct activities for stopping the spread of infections in facility. Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards. Plan and prepare employee work schedules. Perform or assist with cleaning duties as necessary. Investigate complaints about service and equipment and take corrective action. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Check equipment to ensure that it is in working order. Inspect and evaluate the physical condition of facilities to determine the type of work required. Select the most suitable cleaning materials for different types of linens, furniture, flooring, and surfaces. Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment. May perform the destruction of discarded patient health information. Maintains and utilizes software used in Environmental Services department. What you will do Perform direct supervision of staff. Participate in training and orientation of new staff; provides ongoing education. Inspect work performed to ensure that it meets specifications and established standards. Plan and prepare employee work schedules. Coordinate activities with other departments to ensure that services are provided in an efficient and timely manner. Implement and maintain production and quality standards for the staff. Respond to complaints in a timely manner. Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions such as promotions, transfers, and dismissals. Instruct staff in work policies and procedures, and the use and maintenance of equipment. Inventory stock to ensure that supplies and equipment are available in adequate amounts. Maintain required records of work hours, budgets, payrolls, and other information. Recommend changes that improve service and increase operational efficiency. Screen job applicants, and hire new employees. Select and order or purchase new equipment, supplies, or furnishings. Plan and assist in office and furniture moves. Monitor pest control operations and outcomes. Aid in the recycling program by shredding paper and appropriate material

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree (AA) or Vocational Training.
  • Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of business and management principles involved in strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, leadership technique, production methods, and coordination of people and resources.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer and personal services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of human behavior and performance; individual differences in ability, personality, and interests; learning and motivation; psychological research methods; and the assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
  • Knowledge of relevant equipment, policies, procedures, and strategies to promote effective local, state, or national security operations for the protection of people, data, property, and institutions.
  • Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in work related documents.
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
