Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED and five years of related operational experience, including supervisory or lead experience, OR
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical mining related discipline with at least one summer internship experience (or equivalent) working in mining or industrial environment, including supervisory or lead experience.
  • Candidates may be required to pass a medical exam.
  • Candidates must pass all required training and/or testing.
  • Employees may be required to work a non-standard schedule, which may include shift work (other than day shift) at a 24/7, 365-day operation.

Responsibilities

  • Assign, supervise, and review the work of staff for assigned work unit.
  • Implement production plans according to approved schedule.
  • May participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult.
  • Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identify any problem areas, and may direct remedial action.
  • Conduct performance evaluations on subordinate staff.
  • Prepare estimates of the staffing, materials, and equipment requirements for projected work activities.
  • Maintain an inventory of parts and materials. Approves purchases of materials and equipment; maintain time, materials and equipment use reports. Requisitions tools, supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Train staff in safety procedures. Maintains safety data sheets for crews.
  • Perform other duties as required.
