About The Position

As an Environmental, Health and Safety Supervisor, you are responsible for partnering with the Riverside operations team to coordinate a successful compliance program under all company safety policies and expectations as well as ensure compliance to all applicable local and regional regulations. By leveraging best practices, the EH&S Supervisor will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthy working environment for our employees. A successful EH&S Supervisor will demonstrate the ability to build trust and confidence with the operations team and inspire change through providing comprehensive risk assessments and safety data analysis. You will develop EH&S strategies, goals, measurements, policies, programs, and practices for leadership focused on improving the health and safety for the branch.

Requirements

  • Knowledge and experience in machine guarding, electrical hazards, air quality, storm-water prevention and other environmental programs required.
  • 2-5 years environmental or safety management.
  • Knowledge: environmental regulation (EPA), health and safety regulation (OSHA), fire and other legal codes, and other applicable agency rules
  • Critical Thinking: using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.
  • Speaking: Ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization including from front line employees to Business level leaders of the organization.
  • Problem Solving: Identify problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
  • Decision Making and Judgement: Ability to act and think quickly.
  • Accountability and Dependability: Ability to hold self and others accountable for measurable, high quality, timely, and cost-effective results.
  • Initiative and Proactivity: Ability to identify what needs to be done and take action when needed.
  • Computer skills: must have a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Outlook and PowerPoint.
  • Project management: strong project development/management skills with the ability to work with minimal oversight for delivering commitments to achieve desired results. Able to organize and prioritize complex and varied tasks and projects.

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in EH&S or similar degree preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree (B.A./B.S.) from a four-year college or university preferred.
  • Professional Safety, IH or other certification (CSP, CIH, CHMM, CSMS, or others) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, enforcement, and maintenance of the Branch Environmental Health and Safety policies, programs, and procedures. Meet with managers/supervisors to understand and update based on business requirements. Develop department risk management strategies. Participate in department and interdepartmental planning and management teams; works cross-functionally to improve processes within the organization.
  • Oversee incident response, reporting, and investigation processes and programs. Develop measures to prevent recurrences and record accident reports in a timely, complete, and accurate manner. Assist leadership in root cause analysis investigations for all incidents. Create emergency response plan for all shifts.
  • Lead, motivate and direct effective performance management techniques, including establishing expectations and goals, providing recognition and feedback, and addressing performance opportunities. Coach, encourage, and develop front line employees according to their strengths. Empower employees to take responsibility for their job stations and safety. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
  • Perform routine EH&S audits of the branch and satellites, analyzing and evaluating results of the environmental/safety program. Make recommendations for improvements, and coordinate improvement projects. Develop and implement training programs as necessary.
  • Conduct job safety analyses and analyze trends. Develop and administer recognition systems to promote safe and healthful work environment. Promote consistency in all safety policy and procedure. Assess workplace and machinery for potential hazards and compliance with all state and federal laws. Set, monitor and achieve safety metrics. Develop training documents that address exposure to hazardous materials and situation.
