The Supervisor of Custodial Services at Brown University is responsible for overseeing custodial staff to ensure that university buildings and assets are clean and well-maintained.   • Supervise custodial staff to ensure cleanliness and maintenance of university buildings.
  • Ensure high-quality fulfillment of cleaning tasks by providing proper equipment and training.
  • Perform administrative functions such as payroll data submission and attendance record maintenance.
  • Manage work orders and administer the safety program for assigned staff.
  • Conduct visual inspections of all locations under responsibility.
  • Act as the first responder to maintenance issues and resolve them promptly.
  • Prioritize and assign work orders to staff to enhance productivity and customer service.
  • Associate's degree and 2-4 years of custodial/janitorial/maintenance experience or equivalent.
  • 2 years of experience supervising employees, preferably in a union environment.
  • Valid driver's license and maintenance of license as a condition of employment.
  • Knowledge of custodial/janitorial principles, practices, and safety standards.
  • Excellent customer service skills and verbal/written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software for processing time & attendance and work order scheduling.
  • Experience in a union environment.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of supervision of bargaining unit employees.
