About The Position

The System Offices is one of several system members within the Texas A&M University System representing one of the largest systems of higher education in the nation, with a network of 12 universities, a comprehensive health science center, nine state agencies, and the RELLIS Campus. Job Description Summary: The Construction Supervisor is responsible for monitoring the electrical construction aspects of all construction projects. These projects involve new facilities and major renovations for the institutions and agencies of The Texas A&M University System.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or similar program or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Seven years in electrical construction.
  • Master Electrician
  • Knowledge of construction principles and practices.
  • Ability to read and interpret contract documents and the ability to maintain an effective relationship with project architect/engineers and contractors.
  • Ability to travel.
  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the interpretation of contract documents and ensuring that all electrical work conforms to the contract documents.
  • Coordinate with the Project Managers concerning the start-up of electrical systems.
  • Conduct project inspections for proper installation of electrical systems.
  • Review drawings and specifications for conformity to The Texas A&M System electrical construction standards, code requirements and construction costs and recommends alternate solutions where required.
  • Troubleshoot new and existing electrical systems.
  • Review requests for additional work from the Architect/Engineers, contractor or using agency.
  • Prepare field reports with details of conditions observed, instructions given and recommendations for corrective action required.
  • Provide field training to Facilities Planning & Construction staff related to electrical construction.
  • Approve payments for electrical testing services.
  • Arrange for utility outages with proper authority.
  • Arrange high voltage testing and other electrical testing.
