About The Position

Supervise the day-to-day activities of the Collections Department, while managing the relationship with third party agencies, maximizing collections results, and ensuring collections compliance.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Minimum three - five years of collection experience required
  • Minimum one – two years experience managing or leading employees highly preferred
  • Knowledge of collection laws and regulations required
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills both verbal and written
  • Strong critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Ability to mentor and develop a cohesive team.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office products
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 5 pounds 5% or less of the workday.
  • Must be able to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl 5% or less of the workday.
  • Must be able to talk, see, hear, concentrate, think, learn and reason for all of the workday.
  • Must be able to sit and walk or otherwise move around for prolonged periods throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to use a keyboard and do manual tasks for prolonged periods throughout the workday.

  • Relevant experience at an institution of higher education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Identify opportunities, develop strategies and implement tactics to improve collection outcomes and reduce bad debt for Concorde students.
  • Formulate goals and establish metrics in alignment with corporate initiatives. Analyze, measure and monitor data and results. Identify trends and communicate findings to management.
  • Develop and maintain Collection policies, procedures and internal controls.
  • Ensure compliance with standard operating procedures and regulatory requirements including (i) Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCAP) (ii) Family Education and Privacy Act (FERPA) (iii) Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA) and (iv) Payment Card Data Security Standards (PCI DSS).
  • Supervise a team of Collections Specialists and a Collections Administrator.
  • Establish and maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
  • Recognizes and rewards employee contributions and achievements.
  • Contact students to secure payment arrangements. Utilize critical thinking and problem solving skills to overcome obstacles to obtain payment commitments.
  • Resolve escalated calls in a respectful, tactful and solution focused manner.
  • Remain current on Collection laws and regulations.
  • Establish/maintain a high performance team of professional, motivated and engaged staff utilizing effective training, performance management and career-development activities while leading them to achieve established business results and performance metrics.
