About The Position

The Code Enforcement Supervisor oversees the daily operations of code compliance crews, ensuring adherence to municipal regulations and effective enforcement of codes. This role involves supervising a team, providing technical expertise, and ensuring the quality of work performed by staff. The supervisor is responsible for training, monitoring inspections, and preparing reports, while also addressing emergency concerns and maintaining compliance with regulatory agencies.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Four years of experience in interpreting and enforcing codes or related fields.
• Two years of experience in a lead or supervisory role.
• Valid Texas Driver's license and good driving record.
• Registered Code Compliance Officer with a current license issued by TDLR.

Nice To Haves

• Associate or Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Experience in public/business administration or urban planning.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and monitors daily operations involved in code compliance and enforcement.
• Evaluates and reviews the quality of work performed to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies.
• Implements plans and schedules, assigning objectives and adjusting work priorities as needed.
• Provides training and guidance to code compliance staff on procedures and regulations.
• Prepares monthly reports and audits case files to evaluate progress and compliance.
• Participates in staff development initiatives, including hiring and training processes.
• Develops training materials for new Code Enforcement Officers and conducts training sessions.
• Addresses emergency concerns and issues citations as necessary, testifying in court when required.
• Mentors other officers and contributes to the professional development of the department.
• Stays updated on changes in codes and enforcement techniques.
