About The Position

Under the supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Supervisor oversees specimen processing, test performance, and result reporting. The role supports patient safety, workflow efficiency, and collaboration with the health care team to ensure accurate, quality results. Job Responsibilities / Essential Functions: Section Administration: Responsible for laboratory operations for the appropriate section(s). Establishes and implements policies and procedures in collaboration with associated departments throughout the organization. Oversees and ensures appropriate coverage for all shifts, including actively participating in bench-level tasks when operational needs arise. Technical Operations: Acts a technical resource for section, evaluates and implements new procedures and instrumentation. Oversees technical performance of the section assuring that results are accurate, and turnaround time is optimal. Quality Control: Follows quality control policies, documents all related activities, and maintains records of instrument and procedural calibrations and maintenance. Analyzes, reviews results, monitors compliance with the Quality Control Plan standard operating procedures. Financial Responsibility: Supports budget preparation and monitors financial performance, identifies cost-saving opportunities, recommends capital purchases, and ensures efficient inventory management by maintaining supply levels and monitoring expiration dates. Communication: Leads and participates in system and site committees and team meetings, communicates key lab and site updates, addresses incident reports with follow-up actions, and collaborates across departments to support Atlantic Health laboratory operations. Team Member Management: Effectively leads and develops laboratory team members by fostering a collaborative work environment, setting clear performance expectations, and supporting professional growth to ensure high-quality clinical outcomes. Conduct effective discipline and performance management. Regulatory Compliance: Maintain required proficiency testing according to regulations. Monitor laboratory compliance with regulatory agency requirements. Coordinate self and onsite inspections. Maintains / reviews all documentation necessary for all regulatory compliance. Training: Oversees orientation, training, and competency of team members and students as assigned. Safety: Demonstrates knowledge and practice of all Atlantic Health and department safety procedures.
