At UPMC Presbyterian, we’re looking for a Central Sterile Processing Supervisor to guide operations, mentor staff, and ensure the highest standards of safety, precision, and patient care. Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • 3 years experience in central sterile processing required.
  • 2 years supervisory or team leader experience required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with peers, physicians, staff of other hospital departments, and outside contacts. Must complete 10 hours of continuing education to remain qualified as a Central Sterile Technician on an annual basis.
  • Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution OR Certified Registered Central Service Technician OR International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily operations of the department, ensuring top-tier cleaning, decontamination, sterilization, assembly, and distribution of surgical instruments
  • Supervise, mentor, and support a team of skilled technicians, promoting a culture of accountability, growth, and compassion
  • Serve as a key resource for clinical teams, solving issues, answering questions, and ensuring service excellence
  • Partner with the manager to maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards
  • Drive performance improvement and help spread best practices across the department and hospital
  • Champion education and development by coordinating internal and external training opportunities
  • Lead initiatives that promote diversity, team wellness, and a positive work culture
  • Participate in staff evaluations, scheduling, and strategic planning for departmental success
  • Share knowledge through presentations, posters, and innovation efforts
